Kahilu Performing Arts Workshop (KPAW) is a two-week summer musical theater performing arts camp. Founded in 2011, KPAW introduces youth to dynamic aspects of the performing arts. Students play acting games that involve physical awareness, improvisation, and communication. They rehearse musical numbers daily, learn songs and dances, and perform a play incorporating their acting skills. In addition to daily acting, dancing, and music classes, campers participate in daily 'elective' courses of their choice. On the last day of the two weeks, campers perform on the main stage for friends and families. All the KPAW teachers are theatre professionals from Hawai'i Island, assisted by local high school and college students pursuing a theatre education.
