Join us at Kahilu for a moving afternoon of music and history with the Mana Music Quartet.

This Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning string ensemble performs a program that pays tribute to the music of Queen Liliʻuokalani, Hawai‘i’s last reigning monarch, whose compositions reflect the deep cultural and historical roots of the islands. This unique concert bridges Hawaiian heritage and classical music tradition.

The Quartet will perform original arrangements from their acclaimed debut album Queen Liliʻuokalani—a release that earned praise from NPR, Honolulu Magazine, and more.

Also featured is “E Kuʻu Morning Dew” by Eddie Kamae (1927–2017), a beloved figure in the Hawaiian music revival and a tireless advocate for preserving local traditions through song.

Rounding out the program is Dvořák’s “American String Quartet,” a work inspired by his travels to the U.S. and written in the spirit of cultural connection and discovery.

Mana Music Quartet is comprised of Island musicians Duane Padilla and Joshua Nakazawa, along with violinists Eric Silberger (prize winner in the XIV Tchaikovsky Competition) and Mann-Wen Lo, and regularly collaborates with many of our most well-known Hawaiian artists.
