Kamuela (HI)—Kahilu is stoked to present this once-in-a-lifetime event — HENRY KAPONO CELEBRATES THE SONGS OF C&K — paying tribute to the songs of C&K in their original style, just like the records, including highlights of events & songs throughout Henry’s career. The show is in-person and only at Kahilu Theatre on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 7pm HST. This epic night includes special guests, Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winners; Gaylord Holomalia (keyboards), Alx Kawakami (guitar), Johnny Valentine (guitar), and the boys in the band; Matt Krahula (bass), Wendell Ching (drums), and Lopaka Colon (percussion). Brother Noland and Blayne Asing will also be making a special appearance!
This will be an exciting party honoring Henry Kapono’s legacy spanning over five decades of music, leadership, and community support. From the era‐defining & iconic songs of C&K to his award‐winning & Grammy‐nominated solo career, and the 5th anniversary of the Henry Kapono Foundation (HKF) with a mission to empower Hawaiߵi’s music community to thrive.
Henry welcomes audiences to this historic concert. Recreating those epic nights of playing to sold‐out crowds, the music of C&K takes us back to a simpler time while bringing everyone together with the laid‐back island rock offering the soundtrack to growing up in Hawaiߵi, that remains as relevant and influential in Hawaiߵi’s music scene today as it did in the ‘70s.
