Marking 50 years since the Kahoʻolawe Nine’s historic 1976 landing, PROTECTING KAHOʻOLAWE chronicles the movement that helped end decades of U.S. military bombing. Directors Mark Carpenter and Corbin Gregory honor the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana and generations dedicated to restoring the island through resistance, cultural stewardship, and the enduring practice of aloha ʻāina.

DOCUMENTING ACTIVISM: THE EARLY DAYS OF THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN MOVEMENT, A group of local musicians visit Kaho‘olawe to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the island’s reclamation from military bombing.
