Featuring Lehua Kalima, Shawn Pimental, & Kawika Kahiapo

A riveting performer, Kaumakaiwa creates some of the most original work in contemporary Hawaiian music, with aesthetics from chant traditions. Kaumakaiwa’s long-time guitarist Shawn Pimental, an award-winning musician in his own right, joins with two of Hawai‘i’s leading music performers -- Lehua Kalima (of Na Leo) and Kawika Kahiapo, and award-winning hula practitioner Pono Fernandez – as Kūlaiwi, creating music drawn from their Native Hawaiian roots. With a combined 40-plus Nā Hōkū Awards among them, their original songs are inspired by diverse musical styles and a passionate commitment to Hawai‘i, empowered by their kuleana (responsibility) to land and culture.

Audiences can expect something powerful, intimate, and completely unrepeatable: a voice that commands attention, challenges expectation, and invites listeners into the heart of Hawaiian identity and expression.
