Founded in 1988 by Gary Washburn, the Honoka‘a Jazz Band is an award-winning student ensemble recognized for its commitment to jazz education in Hawai‘i and community engagement. A GRAMMY Signature School, it is one of only 26 programs ever nationwide to receive this distinction.

Beyond the stage, the band is deeply involved in mentorship and outreach, inspiring young musicians and fostering a love for jazz and music throughout the community. They have performed across the Hawaiian Islands, at national conventions, and on NPR’s From the Top, sharing the stage with artists such as David Benoit and Marcia Ball. With multiple CD releases and a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nomination, the ensemble brings a dynamic mix of big band jazz, swing, and blues to the stage.

Experience the next generation of jazz musicians live at Kahilu Theatre.
